Pedagogy in Action: Creating a Gamified Faculty Workshop Experience
It can be difficult to motivate faculty to attend professional development in the areas of online teaching technology as well as teaching and learning best practices. They only have so much time for training, and sometimes much needed information about pedagogy gets lost in the rush to learn how to use new tools. In this session, instructional designers from the University of Akron will discuss how they created a gamified faculty workshop that seamlessly blends teaching the advanced LMS skills needed for online teaching with instruction in best practices for online pedagogy. Learn how they structured faculty training, the sequence of topics, the pedagogy infused in each technology topic, lessons learned along the way and results experienced since adopting this training method. You'll also have the opportunity to observe the interactive gamification that has made these training sessions so successful.
