3D Scanning Skeletons
Presenters will discuss how 3D printing and scanning can increase accessibility, cut costs, and encourage the use of technology in course curriculum. Attendees will have the opportunity to view 3D scans and models of hominids created for OSU Anthropology Courses, Ohio Science Olympiad, and the OSU Anthropology Department Outreach Committee. These items are the result of a year-long partnership between the Office of Distance Education and eLearning, the Department of Art, and the Department of Anthropology.
Heather graduated from The Ohio State University with a BS in Anthropological Sciences in 2015, and in 2016 she graduated from Oxford University with a MSt in Maritime Archaeology. Her dissertation explored the Greco-Roman relationship with the sea based on depictions of sea creatures in art.
Andrew Frueh is an artist and educator and the sound artist and app developer for ARTrees. He teaches classes and workshops in digital media, game design, and robotics, and runs the digital fabrication lab in the Department of Art. His current research is in low- cost, high-resolution 3D scanning for better 3D model acquisition.
