A Large-Scale Collaboration to Develop Open Educational Resources
North Central State College, in partnership with The Ohio State University, Ohio Dominican University, and sixteen community colleges, received a $1.3 million Ohio Department of Higher Education's Innovation Grant, focused on developing open educational resources (OERs) for 22 courses, including high-enrollment general education courses and three upper-level mathematics courses. This presentation will focus on the collaborative process developed to reach this goal, and our lessons learned so far. First, there is a large-scale collaboration between various stakeholders, including public and private universities, community colleges, and OhioLink. Second, there is a collaboration between individual faculty members representing a diverse set of institutions working together to create course materials. Finally, there will be a collaboration between content creators and adopters. Each level of collaboration has contributed to our understanding of the diverse needs of our students and allowed us to work towards solutions that will result in improved pedagogy and more affordable education.
