Beat Math Anxiety: Creating a Safe Virtual Space in Mathematics Class

Cartoon Room

In 2013, The Program for International Student Assessment, which measures academic achievement of students worldwide, found that math anxiety is related to poor math performance. Students need a space where they can feel safe and confident discussing mathematical questions. Meanwhile, teachers should create more opportunities for students to work together. We have found appropriate mobile apps that can be used as effective means that encourage children to express their struggles and get peer feedback. Hear about our empirical experiences and learn innovative methods that integrate technology to encourage student voices and engagement.
