Think Tank: Delving into the Disconnect
Our nation is burbling with contrasting notions about how best to educate students and make them "career and college ready." How does this goal mesh with standardized testing, pressure to be attractive to colleges, and authentic learning? Books like Most Likely to Succeed: Preparing Our Kids for the Innovation Era by Ted Wagner and Tony Dintersmith (and the accompanying film being screened in communities) are causing educators nationwide to re-examine how they approaching teaching and learning. This think tank session will examine these questions in the hopes of learning how to get the best out of our teaching to promote students' learning and growth.
