Getting Ready for Opportunities and Work: The Story of GROW
What started as a year long service project has now become a non-profit organization. Founded with the purpose of bringing to an end the issues of recidivism and youth homelessness, there is still much to accomplish. Today, GROW is dedicating its efforts toward providing transitional housing for justice-involved youth right here in Columbus. Hear from GROW President and Ohio State President's Prize winner, Christian McGhee, as he shares how GROW came to be, the many challenges the youth he works with face, and how his team is working to combat those challenges.
Christian McGhee spent most of his childhood growing up in Westerville, Ohio. After high school, he eventually made his way to The Ohio State University where he studied Marketing along with minors in fashion and economics. While there, he served in a fellowship program called Buckeye REACH, where he became a mentor to incarcerated youth. Through his experiences, he has grown passionate about bringing about new opportunities for justice-involved youth. Thanks to Ohio State and the President’s prize, he will now be able to dedicate his life towards GROW, a non-profit dedicated to providing transitional housing for those who need it most.
