A student-centered, inter-institutional speaker series fostered community, facilitated connection, and allowed students, faculty and staff to explore questions raised amidst socio-political, health, and economic turmoil. Join us to learn how our speaker series promoted deep and applied learning and generated student excitement about their majors. You'll have opportunities for brainstorming and networking with fellow attendees.

Dr. Anjel Stough-Hunter has been teaching a variety of sociology courses at Ohio Dominican University since 2011. Her research focuses on community, health, and rural people and places. She is also currently working on several projects related to the scholarship of teaching and learning including adoption of Open Educational Resources.

Irene Petten is an Associate Professor in the Social Science Department and Co-Director of the Honors Program at Columbus State Community College. She earned a Ph.D. in Sociology from the University of Reading, UK. Her teaching interests include culture, deviance, power, inequalities, and social movements. She is fascinated by how once-radical cultural practices become co-opted into normative structures and she is interested in the processes of framing, cultural schema formation, and legitimacy.
